Volkswagon:  The Force:  (thanks to Leonard Kirk for the heads up on this one) a commercial for the Passat featuring a mini Darth Vader. One wonders how much VW had to pay Mr. Lucas for this one. I didn't even see a single Star Wars logo in it...

NBC announces Russell Brand to host SNL...with Chris Brown as musical guest, on February 12. Oh, I'm torn. LOVE LOVE LOVE Russell Brand. Love him. Really I love him. Chris Brown? Those will be the times when I go get a cold beer...

High School Lesbian Students Win Right to be Homecoming Couple:  pretty much just "yay!" for this story. A stumble becomes a step on the way to equality...

School tries to Ban all Non-Academic Clubs to get rid of Gay-Straight Alliance Club. (one of the moments that made me proudest as a mother was The Teenager coming home from his own school one day and reporting that, when there was a school announcement about the Gay-Straight Alliance Club and how important it was in light of the spate of gay kids committing suicide over bullying, several of his acquaintance started making mocking jokes, "How dumb were those kids? Who commits suicide just because someone makes fun of you? Haha", and the like. So, he quietly packed up his lunch, ignored their entreaties to stay, and marched off to join the Club.)

(And check out the image below which is  used for the Gene Day Award for Self-Publishing; art by Dave Sim, colours by moi.)
